Title:
Eighth Year Response of Loblolly Pine to Fertilizer Pellets Placed in the Tree Planting Slit (Winnsboro Research Center, Research Report No. 41)
Description:
In 1962 fertilizer pellets were placed underground in the planting slit as trees were planted. Both growth and survival had increased in fertilized tree plots over unfertilized tree plots by the age of five. By the eighth year measurement fertilized trees had fourteen percent more cubic foot volume per acre than unfertilized trees. Rates of elements applied in this test were very low when compared to rates used currently for surface broadcast treatments.
