Description:
This interview for the NCSU Libraries’ Student Leadership Initiative was conducted in the D. H. Hill Library on the campus of North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina. Banks Talley had a long career at NC State. In 1951 he became assistant dean of students. He later served as coordinator and director of student activities, associate dean, and then dean of student affairs. In 1974 he became vice chancellor for student affairs. In 1977-1978 he took a leave of absence to serve as the executive assistant to Governor Jim Hunt. In 1983-1984 he took another leave of absence to serve as executive vice president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In 1984 he officially stepped down from duties at NC State.
