- This resource contains letters, newspaper clippings, statements and papers related to animal welfare and specifically whale protection. It includes material from the Old Dartmouth Historical Society Whaling Museum, statements made by various figures calling for the protection of whales, and papers such as a paper on the Methods of Killing Whales by Major C.W. Hume, Chairman of the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW). Many of the letters and statements are about the Endangered Species Act an its relation to Whale hunting and many are written to or by Christine Stevens of the Society for Animal Protective Legislation.
