Historical note:
Originally called the Civil Engineering Building, then renamed Mann Hall, and this unnamed building was known as Daniels Hall until the NC State University Board of Trustees approved removing the name on June 22, 2020. The building was originally named after Josephus Daniels in 1938 because of his support for NC State’s engineering program and particularly electrical engineering, which was housed in Daniels Hall for many years. Josephus Daniels had strong ties to white supremacy and played a leading role in the 1898 Wilmington coup, also known as the Wilmington massacre.
