The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. Description:
Larry K. Monteith was Head of the NC State Electrical Engineering Department (1974-1978), then Dean (1978-1990), and later served as NC State's Chancellor (1990-1998). In this interview he discusses the events behind and his involvement in establishing Centennial Campus, including the acquisition of property from the Dorothea Dix Hospital. Also discussed is building infrastructure for the Centennial Campus, bringing the College of Textiles to campus, the further moving of other departments and organizations, and the protocols for allowing and recruiting non-university groups to build there.
