This collection contains the correspondence between Drs. W. H. Johnson and D. Schurer. The letters concern the D.E.J. International Research Company N.V. of Holland's interest in freeze-drying tobacco, as they request the expertise advice of NCSU's Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. The communication also covers NCSU's two patent applications: one related to a process of freeze-drying tobacco from a high moisture state during or following curing; the other for a method and apparatus for turgor-conditioning tobaccon for freeze-drying.
