Description:
Watauga Residence Hall is named for the Watauga Club, which was a club of young men under the age of 30 who lived in Raleigh and who pressured the legislature to establish the State College. They believed practical industrial and scientific education needed to be provided in North Carolina. The building was built in 1903, following a fire that destroyed the first Watauga Hall, built in 1893.
