- Description:
- The Friday Institute is named for William and Ida Friday, who have both advocated for improving education in North Carolina and the United States for over 50 years. William Friday served as the president of the University of North Carolina system for 30 years and was education advisor to Presidents Johnson and Carter. The Friday Institute, founded in 1988, researches, creates, and advocates for resources for better teaching and learning in North Carolina. The Institute is part of North Carolina State University's College of Education and the building it is housed in was built in 2005. Centennial Campus Middle School opened its doors in 2000, as a magnet middle school in the Wake County Public School System. Centennial Campus, named in honor of the NCSU's centennial in 1987.
