Historical note:: Constructed in the mid-nineteenth century, the home represents a rare surviving log cabin form, and provides a view of an approach to building that was once popular in much of Eastern North Carolina.
Architectural note:: The unknown builder utilized saddle-notching in the home's construction, which consists of cutting the ends off of rounded logs to allow a close fit when laid together. The home also features trapezoidal light wood block foundation piers and a wood chimney.
