- Alexander Long (farmer and river ferry runner) and Elizabeth Chapman Long, first owner.
- Architectural note:
- The house features one of the state's finest examples of decorative brickwork. The structure is the only home in North Carolina to use hearts with a couple's initials in its brickwork, though this detail was seen throughout the mid-Atlantic.
