Architectural note:: In 1939, Wooten designed the Works Progress Administration-funded rear addition. The courthouse's original design is attributed locally to Henry K. Burgwyn.
Historical note:: Considered one of the state's finest antebellum temples of justice, the courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
