- Historical note:
- The lifesaving station is the most intact and best known in the state. The older structure was one of the original seven built by the Lifesaving Service. In 1911, Mendeleff designed the newer station, and the nineteenth century station, built in 1874, was converted to a boathouse. The lifesaving station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
