Provenance note:
Joseph Alexander Walker, first owner.
Architectural note:
The simple log church typifies the mountain meetinghouse of this time period, of which few still stand in Burke County. The apse was added around 1850.
Historical note:
Walker owned most of the mountain and provided the building to serve as both a church and school for the local families.
