Historical note:
The building was once the most ambitious church in the North Carolina colony. The church was burned by the British in 1776 and never rebuilt, though the walls still stand. The remains have been stabilized as a ruin at Brunswick Town State Historic Site and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Architectural note:
Under construction for many years, the large brick church was the grandest in the colony and featured a broad Venetian window.
