General Thomas Brown, first owner.
Architectural note:
The home utilized an unusual plan that consisted of a one room deep layout with both an off center passage and a lateral passage along the front.
Historical note:
The home was constructed in the late eighteenth century. The building is one of the few remaining Cape Fear plantations, which were once commonplace along the river, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
