Architectural note:
The home is one of only two gambrel roofed houses in North Carolina that feature brick end walls. The house exemplifies the characteristic form of wealthy mid-eighteenth century dwellings in this area. The building was moved to Hope Plantation in 1974 for restoration. The move included several outbuildings such as the frame smokehouse.
Historical note:
The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
