Provenance note:
The house was built for John Elliot, son of George Elliot, one of the area's largest planters.
Architectural note:
The plantation house is a two-story Greek Revival structure with a center-passage plan.
Historical note:
The plantation was originally named "The Bluff" due to its hilltop location. It received the name Thorbiskope in the early twentieth century.
