Provenance note:
The house was built for planter Lewis Bond and was later home to Sarah Norfleet Smith, widow of William R. Smith.
Architectural note:
The house is a good example of the region's T-plan tripartate homes. This one has a front stair lobby and a compressed two-story, single bay pedimented section.
Historical note:
The house originally stood on a plantation near Scotland Neck before being moved to its current location. The name Sally-Billy House comes from the nickname of Sarah Smith, who was called Sally Billy to differentiate her from other women with the name Sally in the neighborhood.
