- The house was probably built for John Branch.
- Architectural note:
- The large, two-story frame plantation house was probably built before 1806. It has a center-passage plan, two rooms deep, and is complete with four chimneys done in Flemish-bond brickwork.
- Historical note:
- The building was likely built before 1806. Tradition holds that John Branch's son, Joseph, played host to the Marquis de Lafayette here during his 1825 American tour. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
