Provenance note:
Richard Mendenhall, a farmer, tanner, and community leader, was the first owner.
Architectural note:
The simple quality of the house's features is common of Piedmont architecture of the period. The house has a broad porch and Flemish-bond brickwork. The property features the bank barn type, which was unusual to the region and primarily used in Pennsylvania.
Historical note:
The plantation house and its associated buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
