Provenance note:
Buckland was built for planter and legislator William Baker and has been in the Smith family since 1847.
Architectural note:
Buckland is one of the state's earliest examples of the Georgian style. It is complete with a center-passage plan and double-shouldered chimneys done in Flemish-bond brickwork.
Historical note:
Buckland is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
