Provenance note:
The house was probably built for Andrew Carpenter shortly after his marriage to Sophia Smith in 1831.
Architectural note:
The two-story Federal style plantation house is two rooms deep and has paired chimneys. It is one of the largest early nineteenth century houses in the county.
Historical note:
The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
