- The house was built for Temperance Perry Williamson upon her return home from Georgia as a widow.
- Architectural note:
- The one-story house is adorned with Greek Revival pilasters and porch columns.
- Historical note:
- Among the slaves who came back to North Carolina with Temperance Williamson was John H. Williamson, a legislator and publisher after emancipation. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
