Building: Laurel Mill (Franklin County, North Carolina)
- Built:
- Provenance note:
- Col. Jordan Jones built this gristmill circa 1850-1859, and probably built his home, the Italianate cottage also on the property, as well as a sawmill and cotton mill across the Sandy Creek.
- Historical note:
- The Jordan Jones House and Laurel Mill are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
- Architectural note:
- The 2 1/2-story mill combines antebellum and later 19th-century elements. The gristmill is turbine-operated, and an overshot wheel was added in a 20th-century renovation.
