- The house was built for John W. Fries, first owner, and was later owned by Adelaide Fries (county and Moravian historian), second owner.
- Historical note:
- The home is the only known work in North Carolina by Holly. The structure is considered the city's prime example of the Queen Anne style, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
