- Provenance note:
- The house was probably built for planter Silas and his wife Sally Wilkinson after their marriage in 1822.
- Architectural note:
- The house is a two-story, frame plantation home, with a two-tier portico featuring slender columns and a lattice balustrade. This house is one of several in the area with Federal detailing.
- Historical note:
- A hall-parlor farmhouse (circa 1825) and a kitchen and barn (circa 1830) have been moved to the property from other sites. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
