Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. Architectural note:
The outbuildings included men's and women's outhouses, stables, a spring house, a sample house for salesmen to display goods, and a dining room connected to the inn by a breezeway. The grounds housed gardens that produced fruits and vegetables used for feeding guests.
Historical note:
Famous guests that stayed at the hotel included John Jacob Astor, and George and Annie Vanderbilt. The hotel and outbuildings were torn down in 1967.
