Architectural note:
The oldest portion of the home was constructed in the early nineteenth century, and then the structure was greatly expanded in the 1870s or 1880s by Major Morehead. The new addition featured Italianate and Greek Revival motifs.
Historical note:
Once the social center of the community, the house fell into disrepair in the late twentieth century. It was razed following an early 1970s fire. The only remains of the estate still standing are the barrel vaulted smokehouse and springhouse.
