Building: Sherrill's Inn (Buncombe County, North Carolina)
- Built:
- Community:
- Buncombe County
- State:
- North Carolina
- Provenance note:
- John Ashworth, early nineteenth century owner; Bedford Sherrill (innkeeper), mid-nineteenth century owner; McClure family, early twentieth century owner
- Architectural note:
- The structure consists of a two-story house connected to a 1790s log house by a twentieth century passageway. The home was restored in 1916.
- Historical note:
- The house is one of Buncombe County's earliest landmarks. Sherrill began operating the inn around 1840, and it was host to Zebulon Vance and Andrew Johnson. The property contains a nineteenth century apple orchard still run by the McClure family. Tradition suggests that the meathouse served as a frontier "fort" in the 1790s. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
