- Architectural note:
- The house gained additions in the nineteenth century. By 1966, the interior had been stripped of the mantels, paneling, and moldings.
- Historical note:
- The home was constructed in the late eighteenth century and was originally referred to as Mount Galland. The property was situated on the Chowan River and functioned as a popular beach spot in the early twentieth century.
