- Architectural note:
- An extensive expansion in 1760 included rear shed rooms, a front porch, and the roof.
- Historical note:
- The home is one of the few pre-Revolutionary buildings in the Lower Cape Fear region. The original section may be the oldest building standing in the state. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
