Provenance note:
State of North Carolina, first owner; North Carolina Highway Commission, mid-twentieth century owner.
Architectural note:
The bridge is constructed from granite native to the site, and from yellow pine. The delineator indicates that the structure was based on a design produced by Ithiel Town, and constructed by Hezekiah Alexander. The bridge received bracing cables in the mid-twentieth century to provide support.
Historical note:
At the time of the drawings, the bridge was one of two remaining covered bridges in North Carolina.
