- The mill features a one story castle-like form with a crenelated cornice and turreted round towers.
- Historical note:
- In 1883 the Spring Shoals Manufacturing Company was changed to McAden Mills and the town of McAdenville was incorporated. McAden Mill Number Two was built during the years 1884-1885 under the leadership of R.V. McAden. A circle of one-half mile radius from the bell tower of the mill encompassed the limits of the town, and the mill complex has remained a significant influence upon the growth and progress of McAdenville through the years. Remaining on the site a generator installed by Thomas A. Edison which introduced electric light to the surrounding area. It was the first in the state, and possibly in the south, to use electric lights. Proud of its heritage in the field of electricity, the McAden Mill Number Two stands as a dominant feature of unique architectural character, worth recognition and preservation.
