Provenance note:
Colonel Benjamin Franklin Brown, a Home Guard commander, was the first owner. Reece Brown is the twentieth century owner
Architectural note:
The property contained a smokehouse dating from 1860 that featured a wooden lock operated by a wooden key.
Historical note:
Colonel Brown constructed the home from lumber that was processed on the property.
