- Mr. Baker, a tenant farmer, was the barn's first owner; R. I. Baker, a farmer, the second owner
- Architectural note:
- The flue-curing type barn was constructed of materials native to the site, and represents an early use of flue-curing to prepare Bright Leaf tobacco for market.
- Historical note:
- The barn's builders were tenant farmers on the property of the Young family.
