Architectural note:
The structure is a prime example of Richard Upjohn's Carpenter Gothic style. Principal Aldert Smedes chose the design from Upjohn's "Rural Architecture" and requested alterations from the architect, who responded with a custom design. The transepts were added in 1905.
Historical note:
The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
