Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. General note:
According to the 1916 Asheville city directory, a Calvary Presbyterian Church was located at Market and Eagle. Another source tells us that this was an African American church. Street views on Google Maps do not show any building that resembles a church at this location, so the original structure likely was demolished at some point. Today there is still a Calvary Presbyterian Church in Asheville, but it is located on Church Street.
