Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. Bob Kennel, catcher
Description:
Kennel holds the record for the third-highest single season batting average (.419) in N. C. State baseball history. He played baseball, football, and basketball and may be the only player to have practiced all three in one day. Known as a power hitter, Kennel played on the All-Conference team and the NCAA All-District team in 1957. He turned down an opportunity to play for the Orioles to finish his college career.
