- Frye had an impressive freshman year as part of the pitching power of the 1968 College World Series team. He ended the season with an ERA of only 2.48, including forty strikeouts, and an 8-2 record. He pitched two shutouts and scored a win over Carolina. He also managed to earn a .355 batting average with four home runs.
