- George W. Poland, Professor of Modern Languages, in Language Lab, August 1964; From accompanying material: Dr. Poland is Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Languages. He served during 1955-1956 as Acting Head of the Department. He holds the Ph.D. degree from the University of North Carolina and has been a member of the faculty at State College since 1948. He is a native of Virginia and received the A.B. degree from the College of William and Mary. He is a member of the Faculty Senate, and he has been actively concerned with foreign students. He was also President, N.C. Symphony Society, Wake County, 1954, and President of the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild 1955.
