- Miss Alma Lee Becton of Stantonsburg, representing Louisburg College, Louisburg N.C., was awarded the grand prize at the Style Show conducted b the Textile School of North Carolina State College on April 21, 1938, in cooperation with the home economics departments of the following North Carolina colleges: Appalachian, Catawba, Elon, Flora Macdonald, Greensboro, High Point, Louisburg, Meredith, Peace, Queens-Chicora, and Sant Mary's. The material was made by T. W. Bridges of Lawndale, and W. P. Crawley of Litteton.
