I happened to be at NC State during the wonderful era of John Caldwell when he was chancellor.

Chancellor Caldwell, I got to know him very, very well because I was in student politics

and spent a lot of time with him.

I admired the man, he had fantastic values. I thought [he] was one of the smartest men I'd ever met, probably was.

But I also had the pleasure of knowing a former chancellor, Chancellor Carey Bostian.

Wonderful guy. Dr. Bostian kind of also took me under his wing a little bit and helped me,

and there are others. I'm sure I'm missing some,

but those are the people that really stick in my mind as people that really reached out and helped a young farm kid who was pretty green,
