William Cummings

William Cummings was the second Vice-President for the student government at North Carolina State University, and was known as one of the most popular people on campus. The Technician described him as “conscientious and capable,” and he was very involved with the Y.M.C.A. and literary society. He eventually became the student president of the Y.M.C.A., and helped with their Bible Study program. When he left the position in 1923, the Technician praised him, saying that his “untiring efforts and efficient administration has greatly increased the influence of ‘Y’ on campus.”

Accomplishments

The student body voted in October to forgo dinners every Sunday until Christmas in order to save up about nine hundred dollars to send for the relief of “tragic conditions in Russia”. The Technician noted that the money would probably save 150 people from starvation.
