This folder contains records related to the North Carolina Crop Improvement Association, Inc.'s involvement with the Federal Seed Act. The Federal Seed Act was introduced through the US Department of Agriculture to establish a seed regulatory program, but some institutions, such as the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service, felt the legislation would overstep its boundaries, and the N. C. Foundation Seed Producers, Inc. and N. C. Crop Improvement Association effectively perform the deeds the Act propose. Information about the Federal Seed Act and reaction and resistance to it are reflected in these guidelines, resolutions, booklets and pamphlets containing legislation and regulations, statements made at hearings, memorandums and correspondence, and a news release from the U. S. Department of Agriculture.
