Description:
Contains correspondence between Alfred N. Hertz, a specialist in manufacturing food and tobacco flavorings, and NC State Professor W .H. Johnson, about establishing the Hertz Research Award for outstanding achievement in tobacco research. Award recipients, chosen from university graduate students, would be sponsored at the CORESTA Congress. CORESTA is a French association aimed at promoting international cooperation in tobacco related research. Also included is letter from Hertz to Johnson regarding a patent for "Expanding Tobacco" and a article from the March 1973 issue of TOBACCO REPORTER describing the patent.
