Provenance note:
Scots Presbyterian congregation was the first owner.
Historical note:
The church is the oldest in Bladen County and exemplifies the plain meetinghouse constructed for Scots Presbyterians in this area. Thomas Sheridan, the carpenter associated with the church, was a prominent local free black carpenter. The church is listed on the National Register for Historic Places.
